Sonic, Knuckles and Tails reunite to face a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they’ve faced before. With their unmatched abilities, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance. The creators of the previous films have stated that they played Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2001) and Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) alone for inspiration. The film is also inspired by narrative elements from the Saturday morning animated television series Sonic the Hedgehog (1993).
