A landman, at least one who works in the oil industry, will act as a middleman between exploration companies and landowners. Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Essentially, they manage the land and secure the leases so that they can drill for oil and gas. Similar to a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, worker housing (man camp), oversee the assembly of excavation machinery, and the drilling of the well site itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part of the fixer, problem solver, and facilitator.. Featured on CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #44.24 (2022). For someone so focused on her goals, the inclusion of an emotionally unstable one-woman circus undermines the show’s entire purpose. Her character feels like she’s disrupting the central narrative, adding unnecessary chaos rather than supporting her journey. The portrayal doesn’t enhance the plot, but instead makes it harder to take its determination and focus seriously. Similarly, the roles of both his wife and daughter feel out of place in the series. The wife seems emotionally unstable, while the daughter seems to lack intellectual depth, making her contribution to the plot insignificant. The portrayal of the daughter feels particularly shallow, with her character offering little more than a superficial level of engagement that adds no value to the story. Furthermore, with these characters constantly bouncing around in provocative clothing, it seems like they serve no purpose other than to attract attention, and it doesn’t feel in sync with the tone of the series. Rather than enhancing the plot or character dynamics, this approach feels like a superficial attention-getting tactic. This is a strange and unnecessary addition that detracts from the overall quality of the narrative.
