Tale
A two-hour window into the heart of Hayao Miyazaki’s creative process, the documentary follows the six-year-long process of making The Boy and the Crane, the latest film from the master of Japanese animation. It was a very moving and funny documentary. Kaku Arakawa gets to see Hayao Miyazaki’s creative process closely during the filming of The Boy and the Crane. It beautifully combines footage from Miyazaki’s films with real people involved in the production of the film, as well as people who are/were important to Miyazaki. I saw this film at the Love & Anarchy international film festival in Helsinki. There were moments that made the audience laugh out loud and others that made people clear their veins. I hope Miyazaki gets to make more films. I can’t recommend this documentary enough to any Ghibli fan.
