While the rest of America prospered, Montana struggled
Tale
The Duttons face new challenges in the early 20th century, including westward expansion, prohibition, and the Great Depression. While the Great Depression began in the United States in 1929, it began early in Montana. The Great Depression began in Montana in 1918, nearly 10 years before the rest of the nation. The drought and the decrease in demand for agricultural products that ended with the “Great War” (1914 to 1918) caused many farmers to suffer greatly. As a result, Montana farmers would default on war loans, leading to widespread bank failures across the state. Between 1921 and 1925, half of Montana’s farmers lost their land.
And so it is
By 1925, 70,000 of Montana’s 82,000 homesteads had left. Additionally, 200 banks in Montana have failed. Not only the plants were affected by the drought, but also the locust infestation and livestock transmitted the infection. Featured Indiana Jones & I love you (2023). Lady Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford. Sounds like a winning recipe.
One is Spencer Dutton
Once again, the Duttons are fighting to keep their rural Montana lifestyle. Patriarch Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford) fights much the same battles as John Dutton (Costner) in Yellowstone. It’s a lot of fun. There are two more very interesting arcs in the story. A disillusioned veteran of the First World War. He is now a hunter in Africa.
It should be easy
Spencer meets an English girl who likes him. They suddenly found themselves traveling from Mogadishu, Somalia to Montana. The second arc is told from a school where Native American girls are abused by Catholic priests and nuns. This episode was very unpleasant to watch. There was a bit of revenge, which made it somewhat watchable… I tend to evaluate TV shows after 1 season.
Not this time
I didn’t like the last part. To explain why would spoil the surprise. But I will watch the second season. i have to…
